Dam risk assessments are evaluations conducted to understand and quantify the potential risks associated with dams, including the risks of dam failure or incidents that could lead to adverse consequences such as flooding, loss of life, environmental damage, and property damage. CECL services provide a structured, science-based approach to identifying vulnerabilities and ensuring dam safety:

• Structural Integrity Analysis: We evaluate the physical condition of the dam and its appurtenant structures; this will include foundations, embankments, spillways, and outlets, to detect weaknesses that could increase the dam safety risks leading to a potential failure. Analysis will check all the extreme loading conditions through well-developed design criteria.
• Hydrological and Hydraulic Studies: By modelling water inflows, reservoir behaviour, and flood scenarios, we assess the dam’s capacity to withstand extreme weather events and climate variability.
• Environmental and Social Risk Evaluation: We examine potential impacts on downstream communities, ecosystems, and infrastructure to ensure compliance with environmental and social safeguards. Once potential impacts are identified, a monitoring plan is also recommended to ensure compliance and sustainability.
• Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning: Our assessments include contingency planning, early warning systems, communication to internal and external stakeholders and risk mitigation strategies to minimise consequences in case of dam-related incidents. The EPRP is prepared by ensuring dam breach maps for planning and evacuation are prepared, which leads to proper planning of the evacuation plans, site muster points and the required Incident Command team and Emergency Operation Centres.
